Orville Breeveld werkt al meer dan vijfentwintig jaar in de internationale wereld van de podiumkunsten. Als gitarist en bandleider toerde hij met Maher Zain, Hüsnü Şenlendirici, Satyakam Mohkamsing en Karsu Dönmez, en werkte hij samen met onder meer het Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Metropole Orkest en het Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest. Hij stond op podia als het North Sea Jazz Festival, Istanbul Jazz Festival en SESC Pompeia in São Paulo.

Met zijn Breathing Ensemble bracht hij muzikale hommages aan iconen uit de Arabische, Surinaamse, Indiase, Turkse en Indonesische traditie. Als oprichter van Stichting Breathing organiseerde hij meer dan 150 producties en festivals, waaronder Breathing Bijlmer en het South East Jazz Festival.

Naast musicus is Orville ook organisator van grote concert- en televisieproducties, waaronder From South East With Love en From New West With Love (ism Het Concertgebouw en de NTR) en de keynote-concertserie Nieuwe Blik Terug in Het Concertgebouw.

Zijn werk als componist en producer bestrijkt musicals, theater, film en albums van uiteenlopende artiesten. Zijn nummer Het Beste Beloofd wordt beschouwd als het volkslied van Amsterdam Zuidoost.

Orville zet zich in voor inclusiviteit en diversiteit. Hij maakte de podcastserie Gemiste Sterren over vergeten zwarte componisten, en adviseerde de Gemeente Amsterdam bij het benoemen van nieuwe straatnamen in de Zuidas (Kenniskwartier) naar vrouwelijke componisten zoals Hildegard von Bingen, Jaddanbai, Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, Fanny Mendelssohn en Majoie Hajary.

Als adviseur van Het Concertgebouw werkt hij aan nieuwe concepten en publieksontwikkeling (From Southeast With Love, Van Exclusief naar Inclusief). Daarnaast is hij lid van de Commissie Muziek van het Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. In 2023 debuteerde hij als documentairemaker met de NTR-serie Nieuwe Blik Terug.

In 2025 en 2026 verzorgt Orville op diverse podia in Nederland en daarbuiten lezingen en keynote concerten die de klassieke canon verbreden door vergeten componisten zichtbaar en bespreekbaar te maken.

Orville is beschikbaar voor lezingen, concerten, workshops en adviestrajecten. Hij bespeelt een speciaal voor hem gebouwde Orville Breeveld Custom gitaar van Ferdinand van den Berg (Ferns Guitars).

For more than twenty-five years, Orville Breeveld has been active in the international performing arts. As a guitarist and bandleader, he toured with Maher Zain, Hüsnü Şenlendirici, Satyakam Mohkamsing, and Karsu Dönmez, and collaborated with ensembles such as the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, Metropole Orkest, and the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra. He has appeared at stages like the North Sea Jazz Festival, Istanbul Jazz Festival, and SESC Pompeia in São Paulo.

With his Breathing Ensemble, Orville created musical tributes to icons from Arab, Surinamese, Indian, Turkish, and Indonesian traditions. As founder of Stichting Breathing, he organized more than 150 productions and festivals, including Breathing Bijlmer and the South East Jazz Festival.

Beyond his work as a musician, Orville is also an organizer of major concert and television productions, such as From South East With Love and From New West With Love (with Het Concertgebouw and NTR), as well as the keynote concert series Nieuwe Blik Terug at Het Concertgebouw.

As a composer and producer, his work spans musicals, theatre, film, and recordings for a wide range of artists. His song Het Beste Beloofd is regarded as the anthem of Amsterdam Zuidoost.

Orville is deeply engaged in diversity and inclusion. He co-created the podcast Gemiste Sterren about forgotten Black composers, and was invited by the City of Amsterdam to propose new street names in the Zuidas (Kenniskwartier) honouring female composers such as Hildegard von Bingen, Jaddanbai, Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Majoie Hajary.

As consultant for Het Concertgebouw, he advises on programming, audience development, and new cultural concepts (From Southeast With Love, From Exclusive to Inclusive). He also serves on the Music Committee of the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. In 2023, he debuted as a documentary maker and presenter with the NTR series Nieuwe Blik Terug.

In 2025 and 2026, Orville will deliver lectures and keynote concerts at venues in the Netherlands and abroad, broadening the canon of classical music by making forgotten composers visible and part of today’s cultural dialogue.
